Automated Bank Balance Tracker + Softr Dashboard

Project Overview

Flipster needed a seamless way to track daily account balances from multiple bank accounts. The solution required connecting to Plaid, storing the data in a structured format, and displaying it through a clean web interface. I delivered a complete automation system combined with a Softr dashboard that updates automatically every day.

Design Process

1. n8n Workflow (Automation Layer)
-Trigger: Daily scheduler in n8n
-Data Pull: Retrieves account balances using Plaid’s API
-Logic Handling: Processes and formats the returned data
-Storage: Updates the matching rows or appends new data in Google Sheets using Append or Update Row node

2. Google Sheets (Data Layer)
-Organized by account name and current balance
-Easily accessible and linked to Softr for live data feed

3. Softr App (Frontend)
-One-page app built with Softr
-Displays all account names and balances in a clean, card-style grid
-Built for clarity, ease of access, and mobile responsiveness
-Secured access and integrated with the client’s workspace

Problem Statement

Manually checking and recording bank account balances daily across several accounts was inefficient and error-prone. The client needed a system that could: Pull balances securely via Plaid Store the data in a manageable format Display the balances clearly in a single-page dashboard

Final Outcome & Impact

The Flipster team now has a fully automated solution to view their bank balances in one place, updated daily without manual work. The client was especially pleased with the simplicity of the interface and the hands-off reliability of the automation.
